This magnificent ivory-colored tablecloth pays tribute to the eloquent Shalom Aleichem prayer that is sung on returning home from Synagogue prayer on Friday night. The words are printed in the center of the cloth in a circular style with a charming black swirling leaf design on either side.

Written by the Kabbalists of Safed over 300 years ago, the prayer Shalom Aleichem welcomes the angels that accompany each person when he enters his home. If the house has been prepared for the Shabbat, the good angel utters a blessing that the next Shabbat will be the same, and the evil angel is forced to respond "Amen", but if the home is not prepared for Shabbat, the evil angel expresses the wish that the next Shabbat will be the same, and then the good angel is forced to respond "Amen".
